I love food and cooking and I’ll be honest, there isn’t often that I find one of those healthier swaps that I think actually tastes better than the thing I’m swapping for.
But then there’s these crunchy chick peas that are seriously better than potato chips 😍.
To make these bad boys:
Set the oven to 400
2 cans chick peas: drained, rinsed, strained and patted dry.
Let air dry an additional 5-10 minutes
Remove any skin that come off in the drying process but the rest are a ok to stay on.
Toss in 2 tbsp olive oil and some salt
Let bake in oven for 20-30 minutes to preferred crispy-ness, stirring every 10 (I usually do 25 mins)
Take them out and toss them in whatever seasoning you’d like.
Season to taste.
Some of my favorite seasonings include:
Garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne
Juice of 1/2 Lemon + Sea Salt
Rosemary + garlic powder
I eat them by the handful but they’re also great on top of salads.————————————————————
Some chick pea facts: 4g fiber and 6g of protein and 120 calories in one cup. Also only 2g of fat and 0 cholesterol
Now let’s look at potato chips: 10 grams of fat, 15 grams of carbs, only 2g of protein, and 160 calories……… and that’s just in one ounce.
